Triathlon for Bowel Cancer - From London to Paris or Arch to Arc

I wanted to write this blog to raise awareness about a forthcoming charity triathlon event .

Six persons will raise money for Bowel Cancer by running from Marble Arch in London to Dover through the garden of England for 87 miles, swimming the channel between the UK and France for 20 miles and if this is not enough they will sit on their saddles for another 200 miles to finish in the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Apart from the huge distance they are crossing between 4th and 12th of September 2008 they will have to overcome further obstacles along the way like transport, materials, punctures, french passport control, sea sickness, the North sea, driving on the right hand side in Europe and anything unexpected.

They will not only donate everything to Bowel Cancer UK but will also donate to a charity called BIRD who has a unique approach to the treatment of neurological impairment known as Development Reflexive Rehabilitation. Furthermore a third of all donations will be passed on the Samaritans confidential emotional support service here in the UK.

I would urge all of you to have a look at their appeal website http://www.justgiving.com/fvstriarchtoarc or have a look at their blog http://archtoarc.blogspot.com/ where they keep track of their preparations , and find out how you might be able to help this worthy and important cause.

Good luck to all of you and this type of charity is an inspiration to all of us!

Thomas
